A former pro-skier, James cut his teeth in winter sports, shooting the best skiers in the world on 16mm in the most demanding conditions, before returning to the UK from France to move into the mainstream.
On arrival in London, James spent two years as a staff editor/cameraman at Linx News, his duties were varied, from editing hour long institutional films, to motion-graphic-heavy conference openers for corporate clients, via VNRs, news b-roll requests and the like, all under extremely tight deadlines, in locations as varied as Madagascar, the Ivory Coast, UAE, Canada, Austria and Greece. In the field he took on a dual role, often shooting during the day, before editing on a laptop overnight.
Freelance since May 2009, James edits on FCP, creates motion graphics with C4D and After Effects and shoots on more or less anything needed to get the job done, from full-size shoulder-mounted cameras to DSLRs. Clients over the last few years have included NGOs such as The Global Fund, Action Aid, the World Economic Forum and the Aga Khan Development Network, corporate clients such as Sony Ericsson, and ski industry names such as Salomon International and Tignes Développement. Recent projects include a gruelling endurance event in Morocco and filming Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Benin for The Global Fund.
James speaks fluent French, and is also currently studying Modern Standard Arabic.

Trip to YemenMay 19th, 2010
I travelled to Sana'a in Yemen last week to shoot 3 short films with Interactive Filmmaking and Mobile Movement for Silatech, a social enterprise focused on job creation and entrepreneurship for youth in the Arab World. My brief was to shoot two projects - one involving vocational training and the other young entrepreneurs, and the visit of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, Chair of the Silatech Board of Advisers.

Visit by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and Melinda Gates to BeninJanuary 31st, 2010
Just back from a trip to Benin (in west Africa) for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the french first lady, and Melinda Gates, Bill gates' wife visited l'Auberge de l'Amour Rédempteur in Dangbo, in the Ouémé Region, to see how The Global Fund's support was having an effect through local programmes, and to promote women's and children's health.

Madagascar with the AKF/PSSDRIMay 2nd, 2009
I'm back in the UK after nearly 3 weeks out in Madagascar on a project for the AKF / PSSDRI.
The brief was to film and edit 6 short educational films in French about rice production. My role was editor and second camera, with Vjeran Hrpka as 1st camera / DOP. The film was shot in HDCAM and HDV, and the plan was for me to cut the films out there and then bring them back to London for me to do a final audio mix and grade.
